The International, Business and Technology Program is an innovative regional program which offers its students a wide variety of learning experiences with an articulated focus, in the areas of business and international studies combined with the knowledge and application of technology in a constantly changing world. The primary goal of the program is to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and self-awareness that will lead to personal, academic and professional success thus providing them with a competitive edge in a global market.
Mission Statement
"International Business and Technology is a challenging academic program that promotes global perspectives, leadership experiences, communication technologies and critical thinking, providing students with the competitive edge in an emerging borderless world."The design and delivery of the program is unique. Students are required to make connections to business, international studies and technology in all courses. Content taught in the classroom relates to relevant and real world issues. At the same time, students acquire practice and consolidate the skills expected in each of their academic courses. Students are immersed in learning activities which require them to think critically, make decisions, problem-solve, and apply both knowledge and specific skills creatively to real life situations.
The program addresses the academic, social and emotional needs of each student while attempting to maximize each student’s potential. Each course integrates instruction and application in the areas of organization, decision-making, problem-solving, and self-reflection.
In grades nine and ten, all IBT students receive a solid foundation in international studies, business, and science and technology courses. During their senior years, students may choose courses that lead to specialization in one of the three areas or continue to develop a broader perspective by continuing to take courses in a variety of areas.
IBT graduates will demonstrate the required learning and self-management skills in order to continue their chosen career paths at post-secondary institutions. The enriched learning opportunities and rigorous curriculum will prepare them to confidently meet and help shape the challenges and opportunities emerging in this new millennium.
